Fox 2 Detroit Cooking School: Dime Store’s Seared Brussel Sprout Salad

Dime Store Executive Chef Josh Taylor stopped by the Fox 2 studio this morning for a “Cooking School” demonstration of his popular Seared Brussel Sprout Salad.

Seared Brussel Sprout Salad

INGREDIENTS
8 oz. cleaned and blanched brussel sprouts
3 oz. mushrooms
2 oz. diced onion
2 oz. cooked and chopped bacon

Maple Honey Vinagrette
2 oz. Michigan maple syrup
4 oz. red wine vinegar
2 oz. chopped shallots
1 cup blended oil

PROCEDURE
Start by searing the sprouts in a hot metal pan until golden brown. Add mushrooms and onions and continue to cook until softened. Remove from heat and toss with Maple Honey Vinaigrette. Place on top of bed of mixed greens. Optional: Top with chicken breast or salmon fillet.
