Dime Store Rochester Hills Brings the Heat on Fox 2’s Cooking School

Detroit's Fox 2 Cooking School with Dime Store Rochester Hills Co-Owner Serving Up Chef's Special Chili-Braised Lamb Hash Live

Cooking Up Comfort on Fox 2: Chili-Braised Lamb Hash

We love a good brunch moment — and this one was live on air. Our very own Mitch Freem, co-owner of Dime Store Rochester Hills, joined Fox 2’s Cooking School to show off one of our boldest spring chef’s specials: the chili-braised lamb hash.

This dish brings big flavor and serious brunch energy. Think: tender braised lamb layered over crispy potatoes with roasted seasonal veggies, a pop of pineapple-habanero salsa, and topped with over-easy eggs and crema. It’s a spicy-sweet-savory combo that hits all the right notes — and then some.

Fox 2’s team got the full walkthrough, and Mitch brought the heat (and the chill) while making this dish live in the studio kitchen. Watch the full segment below to catch the behind-the-scenes flavor and see just how this special came together.

Whether you saw it on TV or tasted it at the shop, this dish was one for the books — and a perfect example of how our chefs use fresh, seasonal ingredients to create dishes that are anything but average.
