Core Detroit: Distinctly Detroit Sandwiches

Guest Review RE: Dime Store's Duck Reuben

The sandwich. For a dish that’s comprised of bread and fillings, it sure has risen to become a ubiquitous and important part of the American diet. And for those of us in the Motor City, we know Detroit sandwiches aren’t just important. They’re epic.

To highlight sandwiches singular to Detroit — the kind you’re not likely to find elsewhere and represent the diverse tastes of Motown — Core Detroit offers its 5 Sandwiches Unique to Detroit.

Included on the list is Dime Store’s Duck Reuben:

“We tried Dime Store’s duck reuben and wept foodie tears of joy over the juicy, tender hunks of duck leg confit stacked onto rye bread with bright purple pickled cabbage, peppery arugula, melty gruyere cheese, mayo and whole grain mustard… This unique sandwich is a work of creative genius.”

If you haven’t tried the Duck Reuben yet, there’s no time like the present. And if you think you don’t like duck, think again. This sammy has converted even the most duck-skeptical.

Thank you, Core Detroit, for including us on your list of distinctly Detroit sandwiches. We’re honored to have one of our original dishes be considered a unique and representative creation of our hometown.
